Sargent & Lundy Associate Intern for Capital Project Management (Summer 2025) in Indianapolis, Indiana

Description

This role offers a hybrid work arrangement. You'll spend three days a week in the office, giving you the flexibility to work remotely for two days.

As an Associate Intern for the Project Management Office (PMO) group, you will be assigned to work on a project team and assist the project management and project controls team members in the execution of their project work. This includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Assist project managers with meeting facilitation, including meeting agendas, meetings notes, and action item list tracking

  • Support project managers with stakeholder coordination, including maintenance of contact lists, communication plans, email distribution lists, and MS Teams channel organization

  • Support project scheduling, cost tracking, progress monitoring, and project / portfolio reporting for power-related engineering and construction projects

  • Manage RFI and Submittal processing including creating a tracking log and facilitating communication between the contractor and client review team

  • Participate in project site visits/walkdowns and safety briefings

  • Support material reservations/orders and site logistics including entering reservations, creating a log, and monitoring long lead time items

  • Assist with change management including entering new items in the log and updating changes in status

  • Utilize and expand your academic background in project controls and project management tools and methodologies

  • Eager to learn new skills and develop knowledge to add make a valuable impact to project team operation

  • Willing to engage with others to understand project team needs

Qualifications

Essential skills and experience:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree with emphasis in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent; preferably from an ABET Accredited program

  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail

  • Self-Starter, proactive, able to work independently with minimal direction

  • Ability to quickly identify and prioritize issues, create solutions, and meet deadlines

  • Working knowledge in MS Office tools, with emphasis on MS Excel in creating and maintaining detailed, interactive spreadsheets, workbooks, and databases

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to interact and multitask with project team members, clients, and vendors of varying position levels

    Valued but not required skills and experience:

  • Prior related internship, co-op, or work experience, which includes project controls, project planning, project scheduling, and earned value performance

  • Demonstrated leadership experience within campus and/or the community
